I bought this Gasifier...and it works.
In case you aren't familiar, a gasifier converts wood to gas.
I have been interested in a way of running a gas generator, as well as providing gas for both a stove and for heating purposes. I think this gasifier should do all three. I have an outdoor woodburner already (requires electricity), a small windmill with a small battery setup (needs wind), and a propane generator (needs propane), but wanted to be even more self-sufficient. A gasifier will provide gas for heating, cooking and providing electricity. I went up to Michigan to see it work and wow, it puts out 3 foot flame. It was running on wood pellets and was up and going in about 15 minutes. It costs just under $2000 but I think it could be worth it. http://www.stakproperties.com/index.php?p=3_1 |

These are very interesting bits of kit. I didn't realize they existed despite the fact they powered the first car's and trucks. I think they could be worth it. You can use them to power other devices, heat a home/water.
